Gyalyum Kesang Choeden Wangchuck National Eye Centre is the first state of the art national eye
center in Bhutan. The eye center is named in honor of Her Majesty Queen Grandmother, the
Gyalyum Kesang Choeden Wangchuck.
The eye center is technically supported by the Tilganga Hospital, led by Dr Sanduk Ruit, an award-
winning eye surgeon, and financially supported by Wen Giving Foundation, an organization based
in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The centre houses 16 beds in four Aseptic wards, a specialised out-patient department, three
operating theatres and other amenities necessary to provide people-centric eye services. The
hospital also runs a targeted mobile outreach programme to ensure eye services reach remote
communities in Bhutan.
